How Manchester City celebrated Community matchday takeover with pupils from Barlow Hall Primary school

Posted 20 Mar 2025

During City’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Brighton Hove Albion on Saturday, the Club celebrated its charity, City  in the Community (CITC) with schools who take part in the intitiative.

Prior to the day, CITC Premier League Primary Stars participants from Barlow Hall were tasked with drawing Manchester City players for the matchday graphics.

Erling Haaland was the cover star against Brighton – but it’s a design with a difference. Haaland’s portrait appears on the front of the Seagulls issue as a half-and-half drawing.

The left hand side of his face was completed by Manchester City’s regular illustrator, David Flanagan, who has produced some stunning designs over the past two seasons.  The right hand side, meanwhile, was created to mark Saturday’s City in the Community-inspired match day.

Rumayasaa, 10, of Barlow Hall Primary School, is the budding artist behind the cover design. She is part of the City Primary Stars programme and showcased her talents to great effect in the brilliant representation of our leading scorer

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for our participants included mascot spaces, taking part in a team photo on the pitch before kick-off, welcoming players off the bus on the blue carpet and shadowing Manchester City content teams.
