Update on school closure and the opening of a new provision for children of key workers and vulnerable children.

Good morning,

Update on school closure and the opening of a new provision for children of key workers and vulnerable children.

School will officially be closed as of 3.05pm today and will open a new reduced childcare provision on Monday 23rd March onwards.

Following the latest update from the government, we now have the confirmed list of job roles the government have identified as key workers. Our childcare provision will be allocated by the school on a priority basis. In order to accurately identify where the priority lies, we are asking key worker parents to complete an application form.

This application form will be sent to you by 12pm today  and must be completed in full and returned to us by 2pm today.

Those of you who replied to our previous email on Wednesday 18th March informing us of your key worker status, are still required to follow the application process and to complete the form.

First and foremost, please note in the first sentence of the guidance from the government “If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.” Following on from this, it is important that I share with you our rationale and criteria for allocating places to those children who need to attend school.

Highest priority will be allocated to children who fall within any of the three categories below:

Families where both parents (or a single parent in a single parent household) are key workers
Children with EHC plans
Families with social worker involvement

In addition, in line with risk assessment and capacity requirements, alongside a reduced staff, the number of places available will be limited. We will regularly review our provision and capacity restrictions and will keep you updated throughout.

Once we have received applications, they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis in line with the rationale set out above. As a result of the criteria some of the details we will ask for include: your job title, name of employer, employer email address and employer telephone number. We will use this information to confirm your employment status.

Only the children who receive a formal offer from myself by 6.00pm this evening will be able to access our new provision from Monday. Families who receive a formal offer will then need to sign a contract on Monday morning (confirming your agreement of our offer and the provision we have in place).

I thank you for your continued support at this unprecedented time. Our staff are working incredibly hard to teach our children today, close down the school and set up a new provision. I will continue to keep you updated throughout.
