Outdoor Learning Week and so much more
Last week was a very busy week at Barlow Hall, Year 2 children worked very hard during their SATs Tests and whilst Year 1 ended their Teddy Bear Science, Maths and Geography Project with a Teddy Bear's Picnic , Year 2 parents were invited into school to hear all about what they have been doing and joing them for their own end of the week tea party.
The main focus of our week in School was Outdoor Learning Week, and many of the classes undertook a number of Geography focused lessons outside. Amongst other things, Nursery Class did lots of work on mini beasts which was linked to their Outdoor learning. Nursery have also taken delivery of some of their own hungry caterpillars which they have been watching closely. As part of their Geography work we have been taking pictures of our outside area to make a plan and we have been thinking about ways we can improve our school environment.
Meanwhile Year 5's outdoor learning included a session on co-ordinates.. The children then drew grids outside to play battleships as part of outdoor learning week.
We also had a very exciting outdoor learning experience when BBC's Springwatch programme came to Barlow Hall to record a soundscape in our quad as part of our Connect Project, the finale of which will be an amazing performance of our new school Song on Wednesday 25th May
Year 2 will be doing their Outdoor Learning next as they were all SATed out !this week!
