The Great Get Together
Fifteen of Barlow Hall's Year 6 were invited to Chorlton High School to participate in 'the Great Get Together' , an event celebrating the life of Labour MP Jo Cox who was tragically murdered last year.
The Great Get Together, which has been organised by Jo Cox’s husband, Brendan, and their family, aimed to be the biggest expression of national unity since the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in order to honour Jo's belief that “we have far more in common than that which divides us”.
Over 110,000 events were planned to take place over the weekend from Friday to Sundayand included street parties, BBQs, picnics, coffee mornings, tea parties and iftars (the meal breaking the Ramadan fast).
Our pupils and the other pupils attending the event had a fabulous picnic in the Green room at Chorlton High School and met the Lord Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham and also had the opportunity for a photoshoot with him.
