Numbers Count is a highly effective national intervention programme. It is designed for children who find mathematics extremely difficult and to help them get back on track and catch up with their peers. This programme is tailored to the individual needs of each pupil. At Barlow Hall Corinne Ford is the specially trained teacher: she works intensively with children one to one and in small groups for 30 minutes each day. Children come to our well-resourced maths room and play lots of different games to improve their number skills.
1st Class@Number is delivered by trained teaching assistants to small groups of children who have fallen behind at mathematics. At Barlow Hall two Teaching Assistants have been trained. 1stClass@Number has a Post Office theme: children use letters, parcels and house numbers to support their mathematics and write postcards to tell their class teachers about their achievements.
