Themed curriculum
Our Learning Challenge curriculum is our thematic curriculum where some subjects are planned to complement each other. Each half term classes from years 1 to 6 will have a Prime Learning Challenge that focus the half term’s learning. Six weeks before, the learning Challenges are broken into weekly focuses following pre-learning activities. Children and teachers carry out pre-learning activities to ensure that the Prime Learning Challenge are relevant, follow the children’s interests and are pitched at the right level for cohorts of children. This is one of the ways in which we ensure we motivate our children and ensure they achieve highly.
The main subjects are called the focus, subjects that are less of a focus are called ‘enhancers.’ Science is taught discreetly from the Learning Challenge Curriculum most of the time, except if it is linked to the Learning Challenge. Due to the mixed age classes we have two cycles of Learning Challenges.
