European Languages Day

On Tuesday at Barlow Hall we celebrated the European Day of Languages and it was a was a great success in school .

Reception practised speaking Italian, KS2 learnt Spanish, LKS2 learnt German, Mr Vaughan's class learnt Welsh and Year 5 and 6 learnt Greek! Wow! What a lot of linguists we have in school! Thank you to the Year 10 pupils from Chorlton High who came and presented information in French to all the KS2 classes on European day of languages.

It was wonderful to see so many languages being celebrated and spoken in our classes and to appreciate how fantastically many of our children not only learn English as an additional language given the number of languages spoken in school but how brilliantly the children get on with each other!

Our children speak around 30 languages at home and some of our staff speak additional languages that the children don't speak. so we are an amazingly diverse and our children get on well together and make fantastic progress in their learning which is a great tribute not only to them but also to our staff whose hard work helps to ensure the children make great progress.
